The city is known for its beaches and has a mild, pleasant climate which is excellent for surfing. It has a total area of 31.6 sq miles and a population of 194,436 inhabitants according to the 2006 census.
Huntington Beach has the lowest level of unemployment among the large cities of United States. The weather is generally warm, sunny and dry in summer and cool and dry in winters.
Rainfall is low and frost rarely occurs. In June the warm air which meets the cool air of the sea can cause foggy and overcast conditions at times.
