In Huntington Beach, surfing is more than simply a sport. It is like a religion, and a time honored tradition passed down generation to generation. In 1959, the city held its first professional surfing event. The Hurley US Open of Surfing is the largest surf competition in the world bringing together top surfers from across the globe. It is a week long beach festival.
