The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a 1200 acre of area which is adjacent to the inner and outer Bolsa Bay. This reserve originated due to the agreement in between the Amigos de Bolsa Chica, a local citizen group and Signal Bolsa Corporation, which owns the oil extraction facilities in this same area. The reserve is assisted by the Bolsa Chica Conservancy, a nonprofit organization.
