Tourist Guide Lee Vining

Lee Vining was formerly known as Leevining, Lakeview and Poverty Flat. This is an incorporated community situated in Mono County in California. It was named after Leroy Vining, who founded the town way back in 1852 as a mining camp.

Its economy relies largely on tourism as it is close to the Yosemite National Park. Other popular destinations here are the Mono Lake and June Mountain. Some of the sites to see are the Upside-Down House and the Information Center.

1980 census showed the population as 314 and 1990 census, it reached to 398. As per the 2000 census, the population of the community reached 250. In 2009, the population reached to 459 people.

Lee Vining receives 7.7 inches of rainfall and 74.2 inches of snowfall each year. The number of measurable precipitation is 44 days. Overall, it experiences 289 sunny days. July month is quite high with 83.6 degrees and January is low with 19.9 degrees.
