Rising 18 stories above north campus, the iconic cobalt blue exterior of the Walter Pyramid can be seen for miles. This 5,000 seat, indoor multi-purpose stadium is situated on the campus of CSU Long Beach and its unique layout is worth a visit.
Accommodating nine volleyball courts or three full basketball courts, the Walter Pyramid has been home to Long Beach State basketball and volleyball for over 15 years. It also sports a conference center and a fitness center, called Frog’s, which is open to the community and public at large.
Believed to be the largest space-frame structure in North America, the Walter Pyramid was designed by local architect Don Gibbs and is definitely worth stopping by to catch a game…and some snacks. The many surrounding soccer fields are also a great place for a pickup game with friends.
