My Best in LA

My best places in LA have to be Venice Beach and the Getty Museum.
The strip of boulevard and coastline known as Venice Beach is iconic, and for very good reason. So many things can be found here. From great bars, to sandy beach (admittedly not the cleanest you will ever find), to such a variety of local artists, eccentrics and street performers that you will never feel dull. To fully enjoy this place you have to see if from many different angles. Launching straight in take a pair of roller-skates or a skateboard and cruise the slick concrete pathways along with the locals, the skate park is also well worth a look. Another must is to quietly sit in one of the charismatic little bars and watch the wilder side of American culture stroll by, people watching is interesting here.
Finally for relief from the urban sprawl head up (by private light railway) to the Getty Museum. A private collection now open to the public for free, it houses some of the best photography to be found anywhere.
