Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is in Los Angeles, California.
Spread across a huge area, the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area was established on 10 November 1978. As the name suggests it has several activities for recreation like horseback riding, hiking, biking, camping and so forth. This site houses six State Parks that are worth visiting. The Topanga State Park is good for hiking and mountain biking with the important points being the Eagle Rock, Eagle Spring Trail and Hub Junction. Other State Parks that can be visited are the Leo Carrillo State Beach, Malibu Creek State Park and Point Mugu State Park. One can also visit the nearby Griffith Park Observatory for a show at its planetarium. Nearby attractions include Disneyland, Autry National Centre and Getty Museum and Villa.
