Overlooking the Los Angeles Basin from the slopes of Mount Hollywood is a breathtaking structure and a Los Angeles icon, the Griffith Observatory.
Located at 2800 East Observatory Road, the attraction is situated across 3,015 acres of gorgeous architecture and pristine landscaping. One of the most popular attractions in southern California, the Griffith Observatory is a national leader in public astronomy and a beautiful free attraction for visitors. The stark contrast of the whites of the building against the vivid green grass and the clear blue California sky is a breathtaking sight; this, compared with the building’s powerful view of downtown Los Angeles makes the Griffith Observatory a stunning location for earthly sites as well as astronomical ones.
When you’ve had your fill of gazing across Mount Hollywood, shift your gaze skyward inside the observatory. If you plan your visit in the evening, you can even enjoy the beauty of the stars and moon hovering in the California night sky.
When visiting the Griffith Observatory, be cognizant of its location on the hillside, as you will likely have to trek a consider distance from your car to the entrance. Taking this into consideration, as well as the vastness of the grounds, comfortable shoes are a good choice for a trip to the Observatory. For more information, call 213-473-0800.
