Away from the click-clack of designer stilettos on the Los Angeles pavement is an earthy oasis where the only sounds you’ll hear are those from nature and your own hiking boots rustling through brush. Temescal Gateway Park is located at 15601 Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades, peacefully remote from downtown Los Angeles and perfect for an environmental and recreational getaway.
The park covers 141 acres of beautiful oak and sycamore canyons that canopy miles of weaving hiking trails and incredible hillside overlooks. The star of the trails is the meandering waterfall hidden within the park. In addition to the many hiking paths, there are various picnic sites, vast grassy areas, restroom facilities, a camp store, meeting rooms, an auditorium and classrooms.
Each summer, the Earth Adventure Camp, the Temescal Field Science Program and many other educational programs are held for children as excellent ways to introduce kids to the wonders of the natural world. If you’re interested in making it an experience for the whole family, the Temescal Canyon Conference and Retreat Center offers overnight nature retreats as well as a venue for special events so family and friends can come together to celebrate amidst such natural beauty and wonder.
