Just one glimpse at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, California and it’s as if you are transported across oceans to Asia.  Located at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard, this indoor movie theater is a grandiose, ornate building that opened in 1927 after the success of the nearby Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre.

The extravagant building rises 90 feet high with towering coral columns, between which is a 30-foot stone dragon. Since its construction, the theatre is largely popular for movie premiers and has played host to a plethora of high profile movies, including the legendary 1977 premier of George Lucas’ Star Wars. The more than 200 signatures, footprints and handprints engraved in the front of the theatre are a testament to the rich Hollywood history living within the theatre.  In fact, long before the Kodak Theatre was even in twinkle in the Hollywood eye, the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre even hosted the Academy Awards in 1944, 1945 and 1946.  It’s a unique theater where you can catch a regular movie on a Friday night or see a slew of stars at a film premier. The theatre even offers a walking tour through the theatre, where the reds and golds of the beautiful interior will sweep you away through the theatre’s magnificent Hollywood movie history.
