Morro Bay is located in San Luis Obispo County in California. It is a waterfront city situated on Highway 1. The Morro Bay city is about 20 kilometres to the north-west of San Luis Obispo. It was founded in the year 1870. A huge estuary by the same name, Morro Bay lies along the northern bay coast itself. The city covers a total area of 26.3 square kilometres. The city has a land area of 13.4 square kilometres, and 12.9 square kilometres of water. The city has a total elevation of 19 meters from the sea level.The Morro Bay town was established in the year 1870 by Franklin Riley. The largest industry of this city is tourism. There are marvellous beaches in the northern and southern regions of the town. The town is suitable for the fishing industry together with coastal tourism. Morro Bay was announced as the California Marine Reserve recently by the California Fish and Game Commission. The population of the city was 10,350 according to the 2000 census. The density of the population was 774.4 people per square kilometre. The city follows (UTC-8) Pacific Standard time zone.
