Oakland is packed with a number of attractions. Chabot Space and Science Centre is a famous spot in Oakland. It has a digital planetarium, interactive exhibits, 3 powerful telescopes, a large screen theatre and various recreational activities. This place is visited by hundreds of visitors every day.

Oakland is home to a special place for children, which is the Children's Fairyland. It was the first ever theme park in the US created solely for children. It is located on the shore of Lake Merritt. There are countless numbers of rides, play sets and theme games, spread out in its 10 acres.

Chinatown is an Asian neighbourhood situated in Oakland. Tourists can enjoy various Asian festivals and events celebrated in this area, throughout the year.

Dunsmuir House is a fine example of magnificent Neoclassical- Revival architecture dating back from 1899.  Oakland Museum is a collection of Oakland's history, natural science and art. It is located in 10th Street in the downtown area.
