Olympic Valley is commonly known as Squaw Valley. This city is situated in Placer County in the United States of California. It is situated to the North West of Tahoe City along the banks of the Truckee River.

This unincorporated city of Olympic Valley was once known as a mining boom town and was considered as the biggest mining operations town in the Lake Tahoe region. However, this boom was short lived as the mines were believed to be “salted” with ore. By 1863-64, this valley lost all of its inhabitants to the Comstock Lode situated in Virginia City in Nevada.

Climate wise, Squaw Valley experiences an alpine climate with cool to mild summers and cold snowy winters. Till date, the highest recorded temperature received in this community was in 1998 with 35 degree Celsius. The lowest recorded temperature till date was in 1949 with – 31 degree Celsius. This city receives annual snowfall average of 11 meters.
