Palm Springs is a desert city located nearly 180 km east of Los Angeles, the capital city of California. It is surrounded by mountains on almost all sides, the most prominent being the 10,800 ft tall San Jacinto Mountain to the west.
The Palm Springs International Airport is located in the heart of Palm Springs. The city is within easy reach of other resorts like Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, La Quina, Indio and Rancho Mirage which make up the Coachella Valley of which the city is a part.
The weather in Palm Springs is usually dry, with most of the days being warm and sunny. Summer temperatures can rise to 40°C, so this season isn’t usually recommended as a good time to visit. Winter temperatures in the desert can drop below 10°C.
The population of this desert resort is approximately 43,000 people.
