The city of Pismo Beach is located in San Luis Obispo County, California. According to the language of the native Chumash Indians, the word meaning of Pismo is “tar”. The city occupies an area of 13.4 square miles in total. The average temperature of Pismo Beach varies between 40 degree Fahrenheit and 64 degree Fahrenheit. Snowfall appears during winters at an average rate of five inches every year. This lovely weather of Pismo Beach makes it an ideal place for tourists to enjoy the 23 miles of uncrowded beaches. As per the 2000 census, the population of Pismo Beach was 8551. A majority of the tribes residing in the city is Whites. Other races include Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, African Americans, Asians and Latino or Hispanic. Pismo Beach is often recognized as the “Clam Capital” of California as it conducts the “Clam Festival” every year featuring clam cowed competitions and clam themed parade. The city is famous for one of the largest gatherings of classical and custom cars that it hosts annually.
