Ramona, an incorporated community, is located in San Diego County, California. Ramona is divided into two census-designated places by the United States Census Bureau, which includes the San Diego County Estates CDP and the Ramona CDP. The population of Ramona according to the census of 2000 was 25,223 and it does not comprise the fringe areas that surround the CDP. The local governing body of Ramona is the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. Ramona, as of the United States Geological Survey, is located near the economic center of Ramona and near the intersection of State Route 789 and State Route 67. The planning community area of Ramona encompasses over 84,000 acres in Central San Diego County. Ramona, at one time, was well-known as the World’s Turkey Capital. According to the 2000 census, there were 3,886 families, 5,021 households and 15,691 people in the CDP.
