Tourist Guide Ridgecrest
Ridgecrest, previously known as Crumville was integrated as a city in the year 1963. It is situated in the Indian Wells Valley in the north-eastern Kern County in California. It is very close to the Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake. The Ridgecrest city spreads over about 52 square kilometres in area, out of which 36 square kilometres is made of land and 0.9 square kilometres is covered by water. Ridgecrest is bordered by the mountain ranges such as the Cosos on the northern side, the Argus Range on the eastern side, the Sierra Nevada on the western side and the El Paso on the southern side. Ridgecrest is roughly 80 miles from the Palmdale region and about 185 kilometres from both San Bernardino and Bakersfield.The population of Ridgecrest was 24,927 according to the 2000 census and has increased to 30,151 in the year 2008. The density of population was 455.5 per square kilometre. The weather in the Ridgecrest is very much impacted by the presence of high elevation desert region. The mean temperature per annum is 75F degrees. The coolest month is January with an average high temperature of 50°F and the average low temperature of 25°F. The hottest month is July with an average high temperature of 110°F and an average low temperature of 82°F. Ridgecrest receives an average equivalent rainfall of less than 5 annually and below 2 inches of snow.
