Riverside had mourned death of thousands of people during the First World War. In the year 1919, various community leaders were thinking of a municipal auditorium that would act as memorial to these martyrs. The proposal was, however, turned down in election held in the year 1921. In the year 1925, Frank Miller (of Miller’s Inn) went on to renew discussion of memorial with offer of a huge portion of land as location for this auditorium.
