Walk through history from the early days of Sacramento as a dusty mining town inhabited by golddiggers to the modern-day hustle and bustle of politics as the seat of government for the State of California.  Relive the early period when Native Americans made the most of the land until newcomers found fur trading to be a profitable way of life. Later, the McCormick Reper, also on display, played a large part in the success of agriculture and the farming of grains on the rich California land. The Cannery Label Collection on display takes visitors back to the days when canning was a large industry for the area. Photographs and exhibits inside the 2-story museum across from the Old Sacramento State Park demonstrate the overall progression and expansion of the city, including an impressive painted mural of 150 people and locations.  Admission rates are $5 for adults and $4 for children.  Easy access by Amtrak train service is convenient and available.
