It doesn’t take a lot of cash to enjoy the beauty of Sacramento. Visit McKerricher State beach and camp overnight for only $35 per vehicle. Don’t forget the marshmallows for roasting. The stars put on a show for free. During the summer months, check out the animals at the Sacramento Zoo in the evenings until 8 p.m. Admission is $10.50 for adults and $6.50 for children. For a real treat in October and for only $5, visitors during the fall season can tour the Governor’s Mansion. Coffins, bats and ghosts decorate the mansion during the open house and storytellers and fortune tellers entertain those who dare enter. A night of culture at the Crocker Art Museum founded in the late 1800s is time well spent. The building itself is a work of art. Inside are works from the European masters as well as art from the Gold Rush and Victorian areas. They are open Thursday nights until 9 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
