Pack a picnic or tow your canoe or boat to Clarksburg River Park, part of the Yolo County Park system. It’s a beautiful green four acre area on 4th Street with a paved boat ramp for access to the River. Don’t forget your fishing pole to drop along the banks of the Sacramento River or binoculars for birdwatching or a canvas and paints to replicate the stunning scenery along the river and of the city in the distance.
Another Yolo County Park eight miles north of West Sacramento is called Elkhorn Regional Park. Its 50 acres and also has access to the Sacramento River and its fish population including salmon, striper and sturgeon. Majestic cottonwoods intermingled with grape vines welcome visitors who can hike through the beauty and splendor of the forest and its bird population which seasonally includes great blue herons, egrets and hawks.
