Salton Lake is one of the largest lakes located in the California region spanning over an area of 376 square miles.
This lake occupies desert basins called the Salton Sink, wherein salinity levels are 44 parts per thousand against 35 parts per thousand of the Pacific Ocean.
This lake is very popular for fishing and boating and is located on the south- eastern edge of California, at a distance of 100 miles to the east of San Diego, 70 miles southeast of Palm Springs and 30 miles to the north of Mexicali.
Some scientists called it “California’s crown jewel of avian biodiversity” and this makes it the most fruitful fishery in the world.
Along with great opportunities for fishing and bird watching the Salton lake provides its visitors with good outdoor recreational activities which include photography, using private watercrafts, hiking, off- roading, camping and camping.
