The city of San Buenaventura is commonly referred to as Ventura.
Ventura city is the county seat of Ventura county, in the State of California in the United States.
Various routes like State Route 126, State Route 33 and State Route 101 takes one to the city. As per the 2000 census, the city had a population of 106,744 residents.
The city is named after the River Ventura which forms the northern boundary of the city. The Santa Clara River flows along the southern edge of Ventura.
Father Junipero Serra first founded the Mission of San Buenaventura in the year 1782. The modern city of Ventura is based on this foundation which is why the residents sometimes refer to the city as Mission San Buenaventura.
Just like any other city in California, Ventura experiences a mild Mediterranean climate.
Some parts of the city experience a mild sub-arctic climate as well. As a result, the summers are dry and hot while the winters are cool and rainy.
