San Francisco is a safe city altogether. However, tourists being strangers to the city must take care of certain things. There are a few places in San Francisco, which should be avoided although they look attractive at first glance.
The Hunters Point attracts plenty of tourists every year. However, visitors must take care not to get lost in the woods. Avoid staying there after the sun sets, as one can easily lose directions in the dark. Areas like Tenderloin, Market and 6th street are not the places to stroll through.
The nearby area of Golden Gate Park must be avoided at night. The Oakland BART station gets deserted at around 8.30 at night. As a conclusion, all the areas that are unlit must be avoided at night. All such areas get filled with drug addicts and homeless people who may pose a risk for tourists.
The city experiences a vulnerable climate. It seems warmer during day, but turns out to be chilly at night. The cliffs situated along the bay are dangerous to climb and many people have slipped over or got stuck into these cliffs.
