Tourist Guide San Joaquin Valley:

The area of the Central Valley of California lying on the southern part of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in Stockton region is referred to as The San Joaquin Valley.

Majority of the region is rural consisting of cities including Merced, Bakersfield, Modesto, Hanford, Turlock, Tulare, Fresno and Stockton.

This valley stretches from the different California coastal ranges starting from the Diablo towards North till Santa Ynez towards the south, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta on the north to the Tehachapi Mountains in the south and on the west to the Sierra Nevada in the East. Kings, San Joaquin and Kern rivers are the major rivers in this area; most of these are diverted for agricultural purposes and remain dry in the lower areas.

The summers in the valley are hot, dry whereas the winters are cold typically characterized by thick Tule fog. The time period between November to April sees the regions rainy season.

This area is basically known for leisure activities and agricultural productions. Among the various events taking place in this region the San Joaquin Fair is popular and attracts crowd annually in June featuring various animal and local food shows.

Another famous food event is annual Pizza festival held in Lemoore which displays crafts, bands and local celebrity pizza delivery. The visitors interested in educational and knowledge enhancement experience can visit the Chaffel Zoo.

Been here 10 years, notice a poor 'self esteem' among valley residents, degrading talk, complaining about problems, even whining, lack of optimism and positive focus on problem solving and calling out or naming the good and the beautiful in our valley. This must change. Words are powerful and how we think determines our actions, ie; how we care for our communities, encourage our kids to build a life here, etc.
