Within a 20-minute drive from downtown San Jose is a wonderful wine region! Actually, two - the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA and the Santa Clara Valley AVA.
All together, these two wine regions contain over 100 wineries, many that are open 7 days a week. To find out more, check out a company called South Bay Wine Tours - they conduct guided tours to the local wineries and also the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association - their site is loaded with lots of great info, too.
