San Marino is an affluent city in Los Angeles County in California. Known as the 47th most expensive cities in United States, it is named after the Republic of San Marino. The city is largely populated by well educated, wealthy professional and their families. Primarily, the city was known for its preserved housing stock, eminent public school system and its strict zone laws.

Incorporated in 1913, the city has popular landmarks like the Huntington Library, El Molino Viejo and the Michael White Adobe house amongst others.

As per the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.8 square miles of land.

2000 estimates showed the population of the city to be 12,945 people. 2009 estimates show the population as 12,909 people.

With 17 inches of rainfall and 286 sunny days each year, San Marino experiences 34 measurable precipitation. July is high with 89 degrees where as January is low with 42 degrees.
