The University of California in Santa Barbara is also known as UCSB or UC Santa Barbara. The main campus is situated on a 1,022 acre campus in Santa Barbara and this university is one of the ten general campuses of the University of California. This is a public research university which was founded as an independent teachers college in 1905 independently from the UC system. UCSB joined the University of California system in 1944 and is known as the fourth oldest general education campus in the system.
