Sequoia National Park: Attractions and more...
Sequoia National Park is world-renowned for its prized possessions—the Giant Sequoia Trees which include the General Sherman Tree (the largest tree on earth). These thousand-year old trees (nearly 100 m in height) grow in the park’s Giant Forest, which has the distinction of containing five out of the world’s ten largest trees.
Guests can walk through the massive interiors of some fallen sequoias (hollowed out as a result of ancient forest fires) and in a few cases even drive through them (an example being Tunnel Log). In the Giant Forest, one will also come across the Moro Rock, a granite dome offering spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada.
Visit the Lilburn Crystal Cave (California’s longest cave stretching for over 30 km), the Bearpaw Meadow (with its quaint tent cabins and occasional meal services) and the Kern Canyon hot spring (a well-appreciated stopping point for the weary traveller).
