South San Francisco is a metropolis located in San Mateo County, California, United Sates. As of the census 2000 the population of the city was 60,552. The city is located in the northern region of San Francisco International Airport. Interstate 280 and U.S Route 101 are the two main highways that serve the city. The residential subdivisions and small downtown areas of the city like Sunshine Gardens, Winston Manor, Rancho Buri Buri and Avalon Park are situated on the westward of the Highway 101. South San Francisco is a division of South San Francisco Unified School District. South San Francisco High School and EI Camino High School are the two public schools of the city. It is a working class and middle class city but the image is now getting changing with the emergence of luxury homes in the city. 46.13% of the population speaks English language. South San Francisco is the birth place of the biotech industry.
