Tourist Guide Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks lies in the Conejo Valley in south east Ventura County in California, USA.

The city derived its name from the large number of oak trees that adorn the area. Coneja Valley has several other places besides Thousand Oaks, namely Oak Park, Westlake Village, Agoura, Agoura Hills and Newbury Park.

The city ranks as one of the best places to live by the Money magazine and is one of the safest cities as well.

The city covers a total area of 55 sq miles and has a population of 126,081 according to the 2000 census. The city experiences a true Mediterranean climate with cool wet winters and hot, dry summers.

In summer, the inland areas are warmer than the coastal regions of the mountain and in winters the pattern is reversed.
