Torrance is the 6th largest city in the south western region of Los Angeles County in California with a population of 137,946.
The city is bounded by Western Avenue to the east, Rolling Hills Estates to the south, Pacific Ocean to the west and Redondo Beach Blvd to the north.
Torrance has a pleasant climate all throughout the year. Its characteristics are low humidity, warm temperatures and sea breezes. Rainfall occurs in average quantity mainly during the fall and winter months.
Refining of much of southern California's gasoline supply is done in Torrance. The headquarters of some of the largest Japanese auto makers such as Toyota and the Honda Motor Company, as well as aftermarket companies, are situated in the city.
The city also has numerous parks and adult sports programmes.
