Tulare city is located in Tulare County in California. It is considered to be a part of the Visalia Metropolitan Area by the Census Bureau. The city got its name from Tulare Lake. This lake was once the biggest freshwater lake. Tulare city is located between Bakersfield and Fresno. It is in the principal part of the Central Valley. The Tulare city covers a total area of 43.2 square kilometres, of which 43.0 square kilometres is land and 0.2 square kilometres is water. The total altitude is 88 meters. It follows the Pacific (PST) (UTC-8) time zone.The population of the city as per the survey conducted in the year 2000 was 43,994 and the density of population was 1,022.6 people per square kilometre. The Tulare City consists of 13,543 households and also 10,753 families. Mission Oak High School, Tulare Union High School, and Tulare Western High School are the major centres of education in the city of Tulare.
