There is a great free sight in Vallejo. It is the McCune Rare Book and Art Collection at the JFK Library, 505 Santa Clara St., Vallejo, CA 94590. Their website is http://www.mccunecollection.org. Their email is mccunecollection@gmail.

This collection is one of the gems of the city. It has a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible (1450), a spectacular Kelmscott Chaucer printed by William Morris with illustrations by Edward Burne-Jones. There is an 1852 Albion Printing Press. In addition there 6 incunabula (books printed before 1501) as well as other famous printers/publishers.

There are portfolios of Henry Evans of his botanical prints. Although this collection is only open twice a month, if you make email reservations with them, they will go out of their way to give you a private tour and open the collection up.

Entrance to the collection is free. There is ample free parking and it is in downtown Vallejo. It is a short walk from the ferry terminal and is only a few blocks from the Vallejo Maritime and Historical Museum.
