Yreka is a county seat of Siskiyou County, California, United States at a longitude of 122.643 and latitude of 41.735. The city offers several services to support the small communities within the region. As of 2000 census the total population of the city was 7290. The city is situated on the northern border of Shasta Cascade, Northern California. Yreka experiences the beauty of all four seasons. The standard winter and summer temperatures of the city are 33.6 degrees F and 71.5 degrees F respectively. Yreka is a very peaceful metropolis which is affluent with natural beauty and history. Out-of-door sportsmen get lots of chances to enjoy hiking, hunting, camping, golf, snow skiing and snowmobiling. The Siskiyou County Museum is located in Yreka. During the gold rush period the city was called as Thomason’s Dry Diggings. After that it was called as Shasta Butte City and at last in the year 1852 it became Yreka.
