The city’s Native American culture is evident in the Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site. With a museum that houses Indian artefacts as well as a hiking trail that leads up to the mounds, this park is a must visit.
The Allatoona Pass Battle Site is one of the most well-preserved Civil War battles sites. Make sure to take trip to see the trenches and earthen forts that still stand.
For one of the best views in the area, visit the Lake Allatoona Visitors Center, which overlooks the Etowah River and the Allatoona dam. There is also a small museum that provides information on why the dam was built.
Nature lovers will enjoy the Red Top Mountain State Park. Facilities such as hiking trails, beach facilities, swimming areas, boat ramps and docks, tennis courts, horseback riding trails and putt-putt golf, make this park ideal for a day-spend.
