Situated in Maricopa County in Arizona, USA, the city of Chandler is spread over a total area of 150.0 sq km and is the sixth largest city of Arizona.
It has a hot, arid climate. January is the coolest month of the year with an average temperature of 19°C, while July is the warmest month of the year with an average temperature of 38°C.
Named after Dr Alexander John Chandler, who transformed the dry desert into farmable land, it has become a diverse city with a high quality of life. Chandler has been nicknamed ‘Oasis of the Silicon Desert’ as it is dotted with cotton and corn fields and dairy farms.
It hosts the annual Ostrich Festival to commemorate the ostrich farms that were once an important part of Chandler’s economy. Originally an agricultural community, this city, with a population of around 240,000, has now become a technological hub in Arizona.
