Charleston is a charming American city located in the Kanawha County of West Virginia. It is also the state capital and lies at the confluence of the Elk River and the Kanawha river (which is the largest in West Virginia).
The national rail line Amtrak runs services to the city, and the Yeager Airport of the state caters to the air traffic. The 9,300 acre Kanawha State Forest is located in close proximity to the city and is just a short drive away.
Charleston has hot and humid summers with temperatures of around 32°C, while winters are mild with temperatures anywhere from 5°C to below -5°C. Excess snowfall is rare, although summer thunderstorms are quite frequent. The city has well spread precipitation throughout the year.
