The town of Chester is situated in Windsor County in Vermont, USA. Located in the Green Mountains, the town covers an area of 144.9 sq km and has a population of around 6,000.The town is located at the convergence of three branches of the Williams River.
Summers are warm in the day and cool in the evening with temperatures varying from 26°C to 11°C. Winters are cold with temperatures ranging from –2°C to –15°C.
First settled in 1764, the town was named Chester in honour of George Agustus Frederick, the Earl of Chester. The town gained fame as the intersection of important stage coach lines. The Stone Village, constructed in 1834 and located across Williams River, is the most popular tourist attraction in the town.
Chester is a quaint New England town located close to several ski areas. Its location in the Green Mountains facilitates outdoor activities throughout the year.
