The city of Collinsville is located in Madison County in the state of Illinois, USA. It is part of the St Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Originally called ‘Downing’s Station’, Collinsville received its name in 1825 as a tribute to the first settlers here, the Collins family. It was incorporated from a village into a city in 1872.
