Tourist Guide Black Forest
A few minutes’ drive from the north end of Colorado Springs, Black Forest in Colorado is characterized by the wide open rolling pine prairie and a dense forest spread over 200,000 acres of land in the El Paso County. The region got its name from a German Immigrant who named the place for the dark hue of the pine trees which he believed closely resembled the Black Forest in Germany. The area has an expansive portion of grasslands and abounds with wildlife with horses being commonly sighted in the area. The population was 13,247 as per the 2000 US Census.
There is an abundance of outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, golf, boating and fishing in the Black Forest area. One of the key attractions is the Pikes Peak.
