Colorado Springs: Attractions and more...
Colorado Spring’s plethora of attractions draws millions of visitors every year. Top of the list is the 4,300 m high Pikes Peak, which is the most popular mountain in North America. Take the quaint Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the summit for a breathtaking view.
The North Pole Home of Santa’s Workshop at the foot of the peak is an exciting family theme park with fantastic rides, shops and shows. The park is open from mid-May to the end of December. Another mountain attraction is the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo which is the only mountain zoo in the states and has 32 endangered species.
A natural wonder is the 55 m high Seven Falls waterfall, which has a mountain elevator to the observatory at the top. Also, at Manitou Springs, you can visit the beautiful 200 million-years-old Cave of the Winds with its limestone rock formations.
A must-visit is the Royal Gorge (the highest suspension bridge in the world) over the Arkansas River, an hour’s drive away from the city.
