Tourist Guide Crested Butte
Located in Gunnison County in Colorado, is the resort city of Crested Butte. This American city with a population of around 1,700 is a skiing hub and a much sought after tourist destination. This region was initially inhabited by Native American tribes (Ute Indians) and the Europeans settled here much later.
The maximum average annual temperature is approximately 8°C, whereas the average minimum annual temperature is –8°C, with July being the warmest month of the year. April to October is relatively warmer, and thus, a good time to visit the city.
The landscape of Crested Butte is dominated by mountains covered either by snow or by dense forests. Ranching and mining were once important commercial activities. However, now the tourism industry forms the backbone of this picturesque city.
Mount Crested Butte is one of the major tourist sites in the city. Skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking are highly popular activities at this resort.
