Delta can be described as a ‘Home Rule Municipality’ as well as ‘county seat’; apart from being the most densely populated cities of County of Delta, Colorado, US.

Delta houses ‘United States Forest Service’ HQ of Grand Mesa, Gunnison; and also Uncompahgre National Forests.

As per US Census Bureau, Delta’s total area consists of 14.3 sq. Km; out of which 0.5 sq. Km consists of water.

Montrose regional Airport; which lies at a distance of 21 miles on the southern side of Delta; can be said to be the nearest airport which is being served by ‘scheduled airlines’. There are scheduled ‘airline services in ‘Grand Junction’ that stands at the distance of 39 miles on the northern side as well.

The population of Delta as per 2000 census was 6400. Its density was 464.5 per sq. Km. Per capita income was reported to be $14369. Around 14.4%25 of total population was found to be below poverty line; inclusive of 22%25 of the ones under 18.
