Denver Firefighters Museum
Walk in the footprints of courageous firefighters of days gone by at Denver Fire Station No. 1 located in the City’s Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The station is over a hundred years old and visitors can walk the 11,000 square feet of space to experience the life of a working firefighter as they visit their living quarters, see displays of helmets, boots, antique firefighting and communications equipment. Hands-on activities teach fire safety including how to escape a house fire.
Kids are thrilled to slide down a child’s fire pole and ride on a child-sized fire truck putting out pretend fires as well as playing interactive fire-themed video games. Exhibits showcase some of Denver’s biggest fires. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on Sundays, donations for touring are appreciated.
