Golden is a suburb of Denver, Colorado, and the county seat of Jefferson County. It lies on the foothills of the Front Range. The estimated population of Golden is over 17,000 inhabitants. It is nestled with many natural attractions which make every visit to the city worthwhile.

Golden is characterised by a semi-arid climate with extreme temperatures because of its proximity to the Rocky Mountains. The climate is generally mild but unpredictable throughout the year. Winters vary from mild to chilling. March receives the most snow with high winds.

Golden was founded in 1859 and named after Thomas L Golden, a gold miner. It was the territorial capital of Colorado before Colorado became a state. It was one of the first towns to be settled in Colorado. Today, the best nature trails in Jefferson County are in Golden.
