Longmont is a Home Rule Municipality which is situated in Weld and Boulder counties in the US State of Colorado. It is considered as the 13th most populous city in Colorado. The word Longmont derives from Longs Peak, which is a prominent mountain named after explorer Stephen H Long. This peak is clearly visible from Longmont.
The city is situated to the northeast side of the county seat of Boulder and is 31 miles to the north-northwest of the Colorado State Capital in Denver. The city grew rapidly in recent years. Longmont was also declared an “All-America City” by the National Civic League in July 2006.
As per the 2000 census, the city had total estimate of 71,093 populations, out of which, 26,667 were households and 18,453 were families residing in the city. The average temperature of the city in the month of January is 27.2 degrees and the average temperature in July is 74.8 degrees. The average total precipitation of the city is 13.41 inches.
