Located in Colorado, USA the city of Sterling is one of the most populous cities in the Logan County with a population of 12,589 as per the 2005 US Census estimates. The city was incorporated in the year 1884. Home to the Native Americans, the earliest European visitors were the French fur trappers who arrived here in the 19th century. The site for the city was surveyed and platted by David Leavitt who named the city after his birth town Sterling, Illinois.
The town, spread over 6.9 square miles of land is the site of the beautiful Logan County courthouse and the historical Summit Springs battlefield.
Sterling also hosts annual cultural festivals like the harvest festival known as Sugar Beet Days which is a two day event where there is entertainment, food and lots of fun and in the summer months the Logan County fair with its Rodeo events, carnivals, music shows and other competition are held.
