Farmington can be referred to as a town situated in ‘Hartford County’ within central area of Connecticut, US. It’s, in fact, a home to world HQ of numerous huge corporations; inclusive of Carvel, Otis Elevator Company, and Carrier Corporation.
Being one of the most affluent suburbs of ‘Hartford’, this place is usually regarded as a desirable and posh community in this area. It was listed amongst the ‘preppiest’ suburbs within the US in ‘The Official Preppy Handbook’. Several residents are being fighting for widening of Route 4; which is a major thoroughfare connecting northwestern side of Connecticut to I-84.
Farmington is also facing problems regarding housing. Lure of ‘quality public school system’ is attracting new home purchasers. In the beginning of year 2008, town residents approved buying of almost 100 acres of farmland. Such a step went on to block a proposal of conversion of farm in to a ‘residential strip’; which most of the people feel would have hampered the rural feeling of the town.
