Groton is a city located in New London County in Connecticut, USA. It houses a population of 10,000 people and is spread over an area of around 18 sq km. Groton was incorporated as a city in 1705. This city lies between Rivers Thames and Mystic and has a diverse terrain that comprises beautiful hills, dense forests, golden beaches, and so forth. The first European to discover this area was the Dutch explorer Adrian Block. The Pequot Indians were, however, the aboriginals of this region.
The economy of the city is highly developed with its submarine manufacturing industry being one of the best in the world. Other important contributors to its economy are agriculture, government services and trade finance.
Groton experiences pleasant and mild weather throughout the year, except in July which is the warmest month. The maximum average annual temperature is around 15°C, and the minimum average annual temperature is approximately 5°C.Explore map
